Orb Bakery's flour supplier - Foster's Windmill - is again facing a threat to its sustainable future from a planning application. This development will take significant wind from the mill.
The deadline to make representation to the East Cambs District Council is 15th August. To help you there is useful bullet points on the Windmill websites
Below is the text of a Call to Action form Jonathan Cook the owner of Foster's Windmill.
You kindly signed our petition to protect the future of Fosters Mill, objecting to land on Mill Hill, Swaffham Prior being considered as an "additional site" in the East Cambs District Council Local Plan consutlation process. I need to inform you that the land owner and developer concerned have now submitted an outline planning application to build 10 bungalows on the same land. Their application comes whilst the local plan consultation process is still 'in process', it is not due to be finalised until late 2017 or even early 2018. Their application is therefore to develop on land which is outside the village development envelope.
I therefore email to ask you to support us by objecting to the planning application by writing to East Cambridgeshire District Council's Planning Officer. You can find all the information you need to make an objection including information on why the mill owners and the local community are objecting to this outline planning application on the Fosters Mill website - http://www.priorsflour.co.uk/call-to-action-to-object-to-planning-application/
The owners of Fosters Mill have commissioned thier own wind study to assess the impact of the proposed development on Fosters Mill and it concludes that the mill will lose between 20% and 30% of current milling time if the development is permitted to go ahead.
Make your voice count by writing an objection. We will of course be making clear to the Council that 618 people used this online petition to object to this land being included in the local plan consultation and thus, we can reasonably assume, object to it being developed for housing - a fantastic result!
Thank you for your continued support.
